ACTOR Alec Newman is the latest celebrity to get behind Leicester’s bid to host World Cup matches in 2018.
Alec – who’s currently playing the part of Cougar Glass in ‘The Fastest Clock in the Universe’ at Curve – was happy to give his backing to the bid.
“Both Leicester and Leicester City are historically important in football,” he said. “Gordon Banks…Gary Lineker…Peter Shilton… Need I say more?”
People have been voting online for Leicester’s bid since June – but anyone who hasn’t yet voted can now do so by text. By texting the word ‘LEICESTER’ to 62018, people can register their support for the city’s bid to host group matches in the 2018 tournament.
While the number of votes alone won’t secure success for Leicester, popular support for the competition is a key factor for the decision-makers on the England 2018 team.
“Texting your vote for Leicester’s bid takes just a few seconds but it could make a big difference,” said Alec.
“Just text ‘Leicester’ to 62018 – and help bring the World Cup to the Walkers Stadium.”
Texts will be charged at standard network rates.
‘The Fastest Clock in the Universe’ continues its run at Curve until Saturday 14th November. For ticket information, call the ticket office on 242 3595 or book online at: www.curveonline.co.uk
